In Memoriam…Jonathan Pfeiffer

Hi. I am Jimmy White. This is a photo of my dear friend Jonathan Pfeiffer with my wife Serena at our house in Long Beach Island, NJ. in the summer of 2009.

Jon and I played live on the beach that day and we also cut some shots for my forthcoming video, “So Far Behind”,
directed by Jon’s nephew and my step son, Joel. Joel was 2 years away from winning Best Video at the Independent Music Awards. Jon was so proud. Jon was at our house often in those days, and I loved him. Although we were SO different in some ways, it was like we had been invented for each other.

In June of 2008, John accompanied me to a session I had booked in Nashville, as I was working on the album that would become my masterpiece, “Two Cities”. Jon wanted to write an article about my project for the Aquarian magazine, an enormous thrill for me, because I had grown up in Totowa, NJ with only 2 rock magazines, The Village Voice and the Aquarian. In addition, I wanted Jon to play on my project. He played 3 tracks on my song “MLG”, including the acoustic solo and harmony near the end. 6 months later, “MLG” was No. 1 (attached). I am so grateful I will always have that, he and I together, on a No. 1.

The article Jon wrote about me and this particular session came out on June 11, 2008 (attached) and it was PERFECT. Jon was a gifted writer and he captured the fun, the creativity , the magic of those sessions better than anyone else could have. In fact, Jon, with his incredible sense of humor and presence helped to make the sessions the absolute best they could have been.

One participant became a Grammy Award winner in 2019. One was in a number of Halls of Fame. Jonell Mosser was
a SUPERSTAR in Nashville. Me and Jon were the only normal people, lol, Jersey boys of course. But Jon was the straw that stirred the drink. The people noted above adored Jon as, of course, he had them cracking up every other moment. As we all did.

Jon died the same day that my mother, Lois, died, February 2. My mom never met Jon, but she would have loved him. Because he was REAL. She was a Paterson, NJ girl and real was all that mattered to her. Jon entitled the article he wrote about me “Taking the Nashville Row, Jersey Style”. From Jon, that was a great compliment… Jersey style… Nobody was more Jersey than you, buddy. This Jersey boy will never forget you.

I am quite sure that there are more people than you would have ever imagined who feel exactly the same way. Rest in peace my friend.
